FWIW...

Parts for the 8x8 omni-rgb grid are around $400 total (brain2, omni-boards, buttons) from the Livid Store, not including an enclosure. :)

Ok - so that makes it around $100 less than a pre-built monome 64, but about $180 more than a monome 64 kit.

but... since it's RGB it's better all around, eh?

And it's MIDI, not a proprietary OSC based communication scheme. That's huge for a lot of folks.
