problems with USB MIDI Drivers on Windows

I've had a couple of people who contacted us who had issues with the built-in USB MIDI drivers on Windows XP and 7 computers. The problem was definitely not an issue with the controller, but a configuration problem with the computer itself, since the controller proved fine on other computers. I wanted to post the solutions publicly so if anyone else has a similar problem, it's searchable.
There were a couple different solutions found.
One user had some legacy Logitech USB drivers that were causing a conflict, and require a registry key edit to fix the problem. This registry edit is detailed in this link, down the page a bit:

The other user had a different issue and required installing drivers from a different manufactuere to fake the OS into connecting with the Livid controller. He used this link to help guide him:
