Some general questions to the brain

edited July 2013 in Hardware
Hi
I'm building a digital control surface based around a little computer and a touchscreen. Everything works great so far.
Now i want to expand the computer/touchscreen system by adding physical switches, leds and some encoders.
For that your Brain sounds perfect.
As i am new to electronics i do have some basic questions.
I need around 70 to 100 switches and the same amount of leds.

Are these compatible?

How far away can the switches be from the brain? Are 60 cm to far away?

I basically need the switches to send simple on / off messages.
I can convert these to whatever i need later.
Is programming the brain complicated? How about turning leds on and off through midi?

Looking forward to the brain.
Thanks, Phil

  • Are these compatible?

    -Yes these look compatible.

How far away can the switches be from the brain? Are 60 cm to far away?

-There is no real maximum distance. 60cm is plenty safe.

-There is really not much programming involved. There is no "writing code" style programming. Here is some information about the editor for programing the Brain:
