BASE FADERS

edited April 2013 in Hardware

heyo!

hope everyone is good...
just got my base today...
firstly, i have to say huge ups on the drum pads...
literally the best ive played on...

as for the touch strips... im having some issues though...
the best way i can describe it is "bottlenecking"
sometimes they work awesome for a minute... then they kinda bog down and stop...
just freeze there...
i also get jitter on fader 7...
i.e. midi monitor showing activity when its not being touched, and some LED movement....

any ideas dudes?
thanks

  • Hey what firmware version are you using?

Also a new firmware is coming soon, literally days that adds a lot more functionality to the faders, thanks for the patience ;)

Are you using it with Live?
  • oh shoot...

sorry... just updated to 0.9.1 successfully on my mac..
using it with live... but also happens when just in the editor...
    lemme know homie!

  • so,

experimenting... i used safari instead of firefox for the editor... and it has made a difference..
faders and capacitive buttons are working...
although i seem to be having the chugging and freezing still on fader 7 and 9(master)
    so weird...

    either way
still friggin tripping on these drum pads though...
    sting!

  • okok...
a bunch more trial and error...

was getting it working then not...
everything was a bit wonky on the touch part of things...

    so,
reloaded the firmware from a windows 7 machine...
    everything is MUCH smoother...
although fader 7 and 9 are still wacked ..
kinda jittery... hanging and they keep sending unwanted note info...

    holler!

  • Sometime next week we will be releasing a new firmware version which addresses most of these issues and enables more functionality for the touch faders and FSR pads. We will post an announcement here when its finished!

  • Hi Edison,

Check out the new firmware v107 on our downloads page. This should eliminate the wacky-ness of fader 7 and 9.

We will be releasing another firmware soon that will have even more fader modes and features!

  • thanks a lot mark...

will install this tonight and holler back tomorrow!
    best,
    edison
  • yodels...

so, unfortunately things are worse now....
i got freezing on faders 1,2,7 and 9
    and FSR 1,2,3 and 4

    not sure whats up...
    holler dudes...

Hmmm.. Can you try loading the firmware again, just to be sure it didn't get corrupted somehow?

    reporting back...

so, firmware has been installed on the following systems:

    mac 0sx 10.7 twice
    mac osx 10.6 once
    windows 7 twice

    no differences on any...
still have issuses with fader 1,2,7,9
    and fsr 1,2,3,4
    freezing, unresponsive...
    faders 7&9 are jittery still...

function buttons 1-8 are now under local control...
im unable to change them on the editor...
also they are not sending MIDI as before...

the MIDI port the BASE creates is inconsistent
as in sometimes it creates a "USB MIDI device" port
and sometimes a "BASE 8" midi port in OSX audio midi setup

    if i had to guess...
it appears that the MIDI the touch surfaces are sending are bottlenecking somehow...
as in, when the base fires up there is a minute lag where nothing works...
then everything is fine and fully functional for about a minute...
then everything gets frozen and weird... .
after some touching faders and fsr
and that only applies to the controls mentioned above...

  • I am going to try to recreate this here. Are you using a script?

  • naw.. just trying to run in directly to ableton..

i also setup a bome's midi translator... for MIDI channel switching ect...
but im not using that while running today

    thanks man
  • Also can you please send me some MIDI monitor data that shows the error?

  • well..

im not getting any errors anywhere on the output...
i occasionally get random data from faders 7 & 9
which appear in the MIDI monitor as "160 9 0 | Polytouch 9

otherwise im getting normal MIDI output...
it just seems like an internal thing with the touch surfaces...

is it perhaps a bad unit?
    i dunno
  • It may be a faulty unit because I am not seeing anything like that here.

The faders and FSR's were not freezing before this new firmware correct?

Can you revert back to the old firmware to double check if the faders and FSR's freeze?

  • yea... they were definitely having some issues before this too...

when i got the unit it was acting this way...
its just only gotten worse through firmware versions...
could be something physical, and that is causing it too...

  • It sounds like there is actually something wrong with your BASE. Lets take care of this through the support system.
